Xenonauts 2

Xenonauts 2 asks for patience, planning, and a willingness to lose soldiers because you made one bad choice two turns earlier. By our assessment, its real strength is the tactical layer: the turn-based fights, the global air-and-base management, and the pressure of protecting a fragile Earth-defense project give it a strong old-school strategy identity. The downside is that this sort of game can feel heavy and demanding, with a lot of menus, positioning, and consequences to track at once. In practice it is a slow burn, built around intercepting threats, outfitting teams, and watching carefully as each mission unfolds. Compared with modern streamlined tactics games, it is more punishing and more committed to paperwork-like logistics between battles. Xenonauts 2 rewards people who like strategic housekeeping as much as firefights, and it never hides the fact that mistakes echo for a long time.
