X-teroids is a stripped-down asteroid shooter, the sort of game people open when they want the old arcade loop of dodging, turning, and shooting under pressure. By our assessment, its strength is that loop itself: a ship, drifting rocks, quick inputs, and the clean, immediate feel of score-chasing. The limit is just as plain, because this style has very little room for surprise once the pattern is familiar. In practice it is twitchy, repetitive in a good way for a while, and then repetitive in a way that depends on whether the player enjoys mastering a simple loop. Against richer modern shooters, X-teroids is smaller and more bare-bones, but also easier to read at a glance. It is for people who want a classic arcade reflex test and not much else.
