Worms Blast

Worms Blast takes the Worms name in a very different direction, turning the series into a bubble-puzzle game instead of the usual artillery scramble. By our assessment, that one shift is its best trick: it is easier to approach than the mainline Worms games, and the matching-and-aiming rhythm gives it a bright arcade feel. The downside is that it is narrower than the strategy-battle versions, because the whole game lives inside one puzzle format rather than the wider tactics sandbox people may expect from the brand. In practice it is a quick-fire, pattern-reading kind of game, and Worms Blast sits closest to puzzle spin-offs rather than to the main series’ messy battlefield chaos.
