Windbound

Windbound is a survival-and-exploration game for players who like gathering, crafting, sailing, and making do with what the world gives them. By our assessment, its best quality is the mix of travel and self-sufficiency: you are not only moving through places, you are feeding, building, and keeping yourself alive inside them. That makes it feel calmer than many survival games, but also more demanding in quiet ways, because progress often comes from repetition and careful resource use. The downside is familiar to the genre: if collecting, repairing, and travelling do not appeal, the whole loop can feel like chores. Windbound sits between open-ended survival and lighter adventure, with more interest in survival routines than in combat spectacle. It is a better fit for patient players than for anyone who wants constant hand-holding.
