Wildermyth

Wildermyth makes party-building feel like a table-top campaign that keeps changing its cast, which is why it stands out so quickly. The game mixes tactical battles with character growth, personal traits, and story events that alter how a hero behaves over time, so the appeal is as much about the people as about the fights. By our assessment, that blend is its real strength: the system gives small choices a sense of history, and the world feels like it remembers what happened to your group. The trade-off is that the visuals and combat are intentionally lightweight, so anyone wanting heavy simulation or flashy presentation may find it modest. It sits between tactics RPGs and story-driven management of a party, with a tone that leans warm rather than grim. In practice it is about watching a group age, split, change, and keep carrying its own story into the next battle. The ceiling is set by how much a player enjoys emerging stories over mechanical complexity.
