Wayfinder

Wayfinder is built around action combat, party play, and the kind of loot-driven progression that usually goes with online RPGs. By our assessment, that makes it easy to understand on paper: you pick a character, push through fights, and look for better gear as the systems open up. The honest downside is that this kind of game lives or dies on repetition, balance, and how much its combat feels good moment to moment. In practice it tends to mean lots of menu time between bursts of fighting, plus the usual chase for builds that make the numbers line up. Wayfinder sits in a crowded space where the familiar parts matter more than the label on the box, and that means it has to earn attention through execution rather than premise alone. It is not trying to be a deep single-player adventure, and that narrower aim is part of what defines it.
