War for the Overworld

War for the Overworld is what you reach for when the real pleasure is managing a dungeon from above, laying rooms, traps, and corridors with an evil-mastermind game face. By our assessment, its strongest point is that classic dungeon-management loop: claim space, shape an underground fortress, and then watch intruders get chewed up by the layout. The downside is that this kind of strategy asks for attention to economy, placement, and timing, so it is not a casual background game. In practice it feels busier than a simple base builder because every room has to earn its place and every fight depends on the shape you made earlier. It sits in the old Dungeon Keeper lineage, and that is the clearest comparison: less about grand empire scale, more about the small cruelty of a well-built lair. War for the Overworld is at its best when the map becomes your tool.
