Vikings - Wolves of Midgard is a hack-and-slash built around axes, loot, and repeated runs through snowy, mythic battles. By our assessment, it does the standard Diablo-style loop of clearing groups, upgrading gear, and pushing through the same areas with a tougher build, which gives it a familiar, readable rhythm. The downside is also familiar: it lives close to the genre template, so its identity comes more from the Viking skin and setting than from a startlingly new combat idea.
