Unavowed

Unavowed stands out because it treats a point-and-click adventure like a party-based story game, with companions, choices, and dialogue doing as much work as the puzzles. By our assessment, that mix is its strength: the writing, the urban-fantasy setting, and the way character backgrounds matter give it more weight than a simple item-hunt adventure. The trade-off is that it is still an adventure game, so progress depends on reading, talking, and occasional lateral thinking rather than constant action. In practice it feels careful and deliberate, with a lot of speaking to people and piecing together scenes instead of rushing through them. It sits near the better story-driven modern adventures rather than the old-school pixel-hunt side of the genre. Unavowed is the one to reach for if story and party interactions matter more than reflexes; if the search-and-combine rhythm is the only part that interests you, it may feel slow.
