UBOAT is for players who like naval management more than arcade action, because the point is running a submarine, not just firing torpedoes. By our assessment, its best side is the routine: assigning crew, keeping systems alive, watching fuel, power, damage, and morale while the boat creeps through dangerous waters. That makes it feel tense in a slow, technical way, closer to a command deck than a shooter. The downside is the same seriousness; it can feel busy and unforgiving if you want a light war game, and the learning curve is real. It stands apart from simpler submarine games by trying to make the whole crew matter, not only the weapons. The ceiling is set by how much patience you have for procedures and small failures stacking up under pressure.
