Tsugunohi

Tsugunohi is a small horror game built from walking, watching, and waiting for the ordinary to go wrong in a very controlled way. By our assessment, that restraint is exactly its strength: it gets a lot of unease out of simple movement and careful scene changes instead of complex systems. The trade-off is length and repetition, because once the pattern is understood, the game’s power comes from anticipation rather than surprise. In practice it feels like moving through a narrow corridor of increasingly wrong details, which is effective when the mood is right and dull when it is not. It sits close to other short indie horror pieces, especially the ones that lean on atmosphere over combat or puzzles. People looking for a quick, tense, story-first scare will find more to work with here than players who want mechanical variety. Tsugunohi stays memorable because it knows exactly how little it needs to do.
