Tropicalia: a Brazilian Game

Tropicalia: a Brazilian Game puts Brazilian culture and politics right into the structure of the game, so it is more than a simple historical label. Its strength is the subject itself: the Tropicália movement gives it a clear identity, and games built around that kind of cultural material can feel more specific than generic biography or trivia. The downside is that a game with a strong cultural frame can also become narrow if the mechanics do not give that frame enough room to breathe. In practice this kind of title usually asks the player to pay attention to references, mood, and context rather than to action. It sits somewhere between educational game, cultural work, and small indie experiment, which is a useful place if the material matters to the player. По нашей оценке, Tropicalia: a Brazilian Game is most interesting when it treats the movement as living context, not as a museum label.
