Towns is a city-builder that keeps the dungeon crawl and the settlement sim in the same place, so you are not just placing houses and fields but also sending people underground for resources. By our assessment, that blend is its strongest trick: it gives the familiar town-management loop a rough survival edge, with labour, stockpiles, and danger all tied together. The limit is that the game can feel busy in a way some builders do not, because the colony has to keep eating while the deeper systems keep asking for attention. In practice it is about watching supply lines, arranging work, and deciding when to risk the caves. That puts it closer to a scrappy simulation with occasional combat than to a relaxed city toy. Towns will appeal to players who like management games with a harsher economy, and it is less for people who want a calm skyline and tidy planning alone.
