Total War: WARHAMMER III

Total War: WARHAMMER III asks for patience in two different ways: a grand strategy map on one side, and real-time battles full of monstrous units on the other. By our assessment, it is the most extravagant form of Total War, where faction identity, magic, flying units, and huge campaign pressure all matter at once. The series already knew how to do maps and armies; this entry pushes harder on spectacle and on the distinct feel of each Warhammer faction. Its weakness is the usual one for the series at this scale: long campaigns can become a lot of management, and the strategic layer can feel like a lot of menus before the next battle. In practice, it is about assembling armies, handling provinces, and then watching formations break when magic or monsters enter the field. Compared with historical Total War games, it is less grounded and more theatrical, which is the point. Total War: WARHAMMER III is strongest for players who want grand strategy with absurd creature design and battlefield chaos; people who want clean historical warfare will find it far removed from that.
