Tom Clancy’s The Division

Tom Clancy’s The Division is a third-person online shooter built around cover, loot, and steady gear upgrades in a ruined New York. By our assessment, its best quality is the way it makes every street fight feel like a small tactical problem instead of a run-and-gun sprint. The downside is the familiar looter-shooter grind: repeated missions, inventory sorting, and a lot of attention to numbers on gear. In practice it is a game of moving from cover to cover, checking builds, and slowly making a character sturdier for the next fight. It sits between a shooter and an RPG, closer to a service game than a one-and-done campaign. People who enjoy co-op missions and build tuning can sink time into it; anyone looking for a short, clean story experience will find the structure less appealing. The Division is at its best when the loop of shooting and upgrading stays satisfying.
