This War of Mine

This War of Mine puts you in charge of civilians trying to survive a war zone, and that shift from soldier fantasy to shelter management is what makes it hit so hard. By our assessment, its best work is the daily loop of scavenging, rationing food, tending injuries, and deciding who gets rest, medicine, or a risky run outside. The downside is emotional pressure rather than system clutter: the game can be draining because every small choice carries loss, shortage, or guilt. In practice it feels quiet, tense, and deeply practical, with long stretches of arranging supplies broken by dangerous trips into the city. Against most war games, it refuses heroics and treats survival as the whole point. This War of Mine is the one here that most clearly shows how a game can be made from ordinary need and hard trade-offs.
