Thimbleweed Park

Thimbleweed Park is built for people who miss classic point-and-click adventure games and want one that knows exactly how old that form feels. By our assessment, its strongest point is the dry writing and the dense little puzzle-box structure, with multiple playable characters and a case that keeps circling back on itself in proper adventure-game fashion. The trade-off is the familiar one for the genre: you spend a lot of time clicking through dialogue, combining clues, and trying ideas that only make sense after the fact. That is part of the pleasure here, so the pace is deliberate rather than brisk. Compared with newer adventure games, it is more interested in old-school obstruction and joke timing than in modern hand-holding. Thimbleweed Park suits players who enjoy parsing inventory logic and oddball mystery structure, and it will feel sluggish to anyone who wants constant motion.
