The Typing of The Dead: Overkill turns a horror shooter into a typing drill, and that odd swap is exactly why it works. By our assessment, the game is at its best when it makes you read, recognize, and type under pressure, because the whole thing becomes a test of accuracy and calm rather than aim. The trade-off is obvious: once you understand the joke and the typing patterns, the surprise gives way to repetition, and the pace depends on how much novelty the word lists can keep delivering. In practice, it feels like an arcade exercise wrapped in campy zombie noise, with co-op and scoring adding a little more reason to return. It stands apart from ordinary shooters because the keyboard is the real weapon here, not the gunplay. That makes it a good fit for people who want a strange skill game and a poor fit for anyone who wants a normal shooter loop.
