The Shivah

The Shivah stands out as a small, story-first adventure game built around dialogue, investigation, and a particular Jewish setting. By our assessment, its strength is that it knows exactly what kind of game it wants to be: compact, talk-heavy, and more interested in argument and character than in flashy puzzles. The downside is that this focus also makes it narrow, and players looking for a big, sprawling adventure will find a short, tightly contained experience instead. In practice it feels like walking through a series of conversations and clues, with the pace staying brisk because there is not much fat on it. Compared with larger point-and-click games, The Shivah is less about wandering and more about getting to the point. The plain public reputation around it is that of a smart, unusual indie adventure rather than a broad crowd-pleaser. It fits people who want a concise detective story with a strong voice, and it does not try to be a long comfort game.
