The Rewinder

The Rewinder is a puzzle adventure that leans on Chinese folklore and a spirit-world setup rather than on action. By our assessment, its strongest point is the idea of moving through memories and correcting events by clever interaction, which gives it a distinct tone among small indie games. The limit is that the appeal depends a lot on whether the puzzles and story style land with you, because this kind of game lives or dies on pacing and atmosphere. In practice it is the sort of game where you stop, inspect, and think more than you rush, and that slower pace is part of its identity. It sits closer to a narrative puzzle title than to a broad adventure, and it asks for patience more than reflexes. The Rewinder is most attractive when the folklore setting and the brain-teaser structure matter more than spectacle.
