The Path

The Path is a short horror adventure that asks for patience, not reflexes. Its good idea is clear: it takes a familiar fairy-tale setup and turns exploration into something tense and uneasy, with mood doing much of the work. By our assessment, that gives it a strong identity, especially for players who want atmosphere more than systems. The downside is just as clear: once the novelty of the route and the symbolism wears off, the play can feel spare and slow. In practice it is the sort of game where wandering, noticing details, and accepting ambiguity are the whole point. Compared with larger horror games, it is smaller, quieter, and far less about mechanical variety. People who like experimental indie games and bleak moods will get the most from it; anyone wanting action or constant feedback will not. The Path stays with the player more as a tone piece than as a puzzle box.
