The Heilwald Loophole

The Heilwald Loophole is a horror game built around tension, chasing a strange route through a hostile place rather than constant combat. By our assessment, it works best when a game wants to keep you uneasy and watching for small changes in the environment, and that makes its mood the main event. The trade-off is that this kind of horror can feel narrow if you want clearer guidance or a more direct set of goals. In practice, that usually means careful movement, attention to sound and space, and a fair bit of patience. It sits closer to focused indie horror than to big systems-heavy adventure design, and the appeal is in that tightness. The Heilwald Loophole suits players who want atmosphere and unease more than power fantasy, and it is less convincing if you want a broad sandbox or long mechanical variety.
