The End Is Nigh asks for patience more than comfort, because it is a precision platformer built around tight jumps, awkward hazards, and a dark sense of humour. By our assessment, its best quality is how carefully it tunes movement: every room is about learning the timing and surviving by small margins. The trade-off is obvious enough, since this kind of game will repeatedly test a player’s nerves and memory, and it is not interested in being gentle. In practice the feel is strict but readable, with short screens, frequent failure, and that constant restart rhythm that hardcore platformers live on. Compared with larger Mario-like platformers, it is harsher and more personal in tone; compared with pure masocore exercises, it still keeps a sense of structure and joke. The End Is Nigh is for players who like demanding platforming and do not mind being corrected by the game over and over. Its ceiling is the same as any very hard platformer: once the challenge becomes the point, the rest of the package follows that rule.
