The Black Watchmen

The Black Watchmen is a live-service investigation game for players who like logs, puzzles, fake dossiers, and the slow pull of an ARG-style mystery. By our assessment, its real strength is the way it makes deduction feel like desk work: reading clues, cross-checking details, and following threads across files rather than rushing through action. The trade-off is that this kind of game can feel cerebral and inward-looking, and if someone wants direct combat or constant spectacle, it will seem dry. In practice it asks for attention and patience, because the pleasure comes from assembling meaning out of scattered pieces. It sits near other puzzle and alternate-reality games, but with a darker intelligence-agency flavour than most of them. The Black Watchmen suits people who enjoy solving rather than being led, and it is at its best when the player is willing to treat every document as part of the case.
