Tape to Tape puts hockey into a roguelike structure and gets a lot of energy out of that mix. It is a top-down sports game for people who like fast runs, comic escalation, and the sense that a good pass or a sudden opening can turn a match. By our assessment, the best thing about it is how it keeps the action readable while still letting chaos build from run to run. The trade-off is that it is not trying to be a full simulation, so anyone looking for strict hockey realism will not find that here. In play it feels punchy and quick, with runs that reward learning how its items and upgrades change the flow. Compared with traditional sports games, it is stranger and more arcadey, but also more flexible. Tape to Tape is a good fit for players who want hockey with a roguelike twist and do not mind a fictional version of the sport.
