Syrian Warfare

Syrian Warfare is built around modern combat at the tactical level, with a strong focus on positioning, command, and the ugly realities of small-unit fighting. By our assessment, its strength is that it does not soften the subject into arcade action; it asks for attention to terrain, lines of sight, and the order in which units are committed. That also becomes the downside, because the pace is deliberate and the learning curve can be unforgiving for players who want spectacle first. In practice it feels closer to issuing hard battlefield orders than to starring in a power fantasy. Compared with cleaner real-time strategy games, it is rougher, more specific, and less interested in elegance. Syrian Warfare suits players who want a serious military tactics game and do not mind a demanding interface and a lot of careful micromanagement, and the battlefield itself is the main thing it has to say.
