Supreme Commander 2

Supreme Commander 2 trims the giant-RTS template into something faster and more readable, which changes the feel of commanding armies in a useful way. By our assessment, its biggest strength is clarity: base building, unit production, and battlefield scale stay legible even when the map gets busy. The trade-off is that it loses some of the intimidating sprawl and mechanical weight that made the first game famous, so veterans often judge it by what it leaves out. In play it is still the sort of strategy where moving production lines and keeping an eye on the front matter as much as tactics do. Against heavier real-time strategy games it sits on the lighter, cleaner end, and that makes it easier to approach without becoming shallow. Supreme Commander 2 is for players who want large battles without the full burden of a giant macro game, and the number 2 in the name is just part of the title, not a promise of anything else.
