Super Time Force Ultra

Super Time Force Ultra turns time into part of the action, so the appeal is as much about planning as about shooting. By our assessment, it is a brisk side-scrolling shooter for players who like replaying a stage with a different idea in mind, then watching the result unfold all at once. Its best trick is the rewind system, which lets you loop back, swap in another character, and keep every past version of yourself on the screen at once. That makes each level feel busy in a way most shooters do not, with a lot of small decisions stacked on top of fast movement. The downside is that the whole joke depends on reading the chaos, so people who want a clean run-and-gun rhythm may find it fussy. It sits closer to an action puzzle than to a simple arcade shooter, and the name fits the texture well. The game asks for experimentation, but it pays off with a very distinctive kind of replay.
