Super Mustache

Super Mustache looks like a joke title, but the point is a straightforward platform game with old-school action and a comic hero. By our assessment, that mix works because it keeps the move set simple and the focus on jumps, enemies, and quick timing rather than on complicated systems. The downside is that a lightweight platformer has to earn interest through level feel and movement, and if that click is missing, the whole thing can feel thin. In practice these games are about reading hazards fast and repeating sections until the route becomes second nature. It sits with the smaller, arcade-minded side of the genre instead of the big cinematic platformers, and the name signals the tone pretty well. The mustache is the joke; the running and jumping are the actual job.
