Super Daryl Deluxe

Super Daryl Deluxe throws a lot at the player: side-scrolling combat, RPG progression, oddball humor, and a school setting that quickly turns surreal. By our assessment, its big strength is that it stays weird with purpose, mixing brawler rhythms with ability unlocks and a constant stream of jokes, drawings, and strange side ideas. The cost is that the game can feel busy and a little shapeless, because it keeps piling on gags and systems instead of tightening them into a clean loop. In practice it is the kind of game where moving through spaces, fighting enemies, and reading its absurd tone all happen at once, so the feel matters as much as the mechanics. Compared with a plain action platformer, Super Daryl Deluxe is messier and more eccentric, but also more memorable. It suits players who enjoy strange indie games with personality; people who want a neat, lean combat game may find the clutter tiring.
