Summoner is the sort of old-school RPG that asks for patience with menus, party setup, and a lot of status juggling. By our assessment, that is also where its appeal sits: it is more about planning fights than twitch reactions, and people who enjoy building a character and managing summons or allies will find more to chew on than in a lighter action game. Its downside is the usual one for this kind of title, with slower pacing and systems that can feel dated if you want fast feedback. In practice, the rhythm is quest, fight, sort gear, repeat, and the game leans on that loop instead of spectacle. It sits closer to classic PC fantasy RPGs than to modern streamlined action role-playing, and the ceiling is how much patience someone has for its older structure.
