Stronghold Crusader 2

Stronghold Crusader 2 leans hard on base-building and siege management, so the appeal is for players who want walls, resources, units, and pressure all at once. By our assessment, it does best when the castle economy starts to bite and every lane around the keep matters. Its limit is also easy to see: the whole thing can feel rigid if someone wants the wider freedom or polish of newer strategy games. In practice there is a lot of waiting, checking production chains, and then suddenly scrambling when an attack lands on a weak point. It sits between classic real-time strategy and castle-siege fantasy, but it does not really escape the old stronghold formula. The 2 in the name is part of the title, and the game’s habits are just as fixed as its walls.
