Steven Universe: Save the Light is a party RPG for fans of the show who want to spend time with its cast in a playable form. By our assessment, its biggest strength is the use of the series’ characters, humor, and simple team-based combat, which gives it a friendly, accessible feel. The trade-off is that it is not trying to be a deep tactical game; the systems are lighter, and that makes the whole thing easier to pick up but less rich over time. In practice you move through bright areas, build a small party, and manage fights without much fuss. It sits with the licensed action-RPGs that aim to please fans first, not with the more demanding genre heavyweights. The right audience is anyone who wants more Steven Universe rather than a hard strategy challenge, and the game stays close to that promise.
