Steam 360 Video Player is a niche player for 360-degree video inside Steam, aimed at people who want to view panoramic clips or VR-style footage from a PC library. By our assessment, its one real job is the obvious one: letting Steam users open and navigate immersive video in a familiar desktop environment. The downside is that it is very specialised, so it does not matter much unless you already have 360 video to watch, and it is not a full media player for everything else. In practice that means a narrow tool, a simple interface, and not much reason to think about it outside the specific format. Against general players it is much more limited, but it fits better than a normal video app when the file is built for a wraparound view.
