State of Anarchy

State of Anarchy is the kind of game that usually sells chaos first and polish second. By our assessment, the name fits an action game built around frantic movement, enemy waves, and a messy, comic-book kind of violence rather than careful tactics. That sort of design can be fun when the screen is busy and the pace is high, because the whole point is to keep moving and reacting. The downside is that games built on that energy often depend on repetition and on how strong the basic combat loop feels after the first rush. In practice they ask for quick reading of danger, simple control habits, and tolerance for disorder on screen. It sits closer to arcade-style action than to anything slow, methodical, or heavily narrative. State of Anarchy should be for players who want a loud, direct run of fighting rather than long planning, and it will not suit someone looking for a calm system to study. The appeal is immediate, and the ceiling is usually the quality of the combat loop itself.
