Starfield

Starfield asks for patience more than excitement: it is a large Bethesda role-playing game about joining factions, building a character, and moving between planets, outposts, and a lot of menus. By our assessment, its best side is the familiar studio loop of exploration, loot, dialogue choices, and quest chains, especially for players who want a long sci-fi RPG with a lot of systems to poke at. The downside is that the travel between places can feel segmented, and the sense of discovery is thinner than in Bethesda’s fantasy worlds because so much of the game is mediated by loading screens and interface work. In practice it is a game of scanning, inventory management, and picking through quest hubs rather than one continuous voyage. Compared with the studio’s older hits, it feels broader in setting but less immediate in moment-to-moment momentum. The ceiling is clear once someone wants seamless space adventuring instead of a structured RPG with a space theme.
