SpellForce 3 Reforced

SpellForce 3 Reforced stands out because it tries to make real-time strategy and role-playing sit in the same campaign without one swallowing the other. By our assessment, the strongest part is that split: you get party-level questing and dialogue on one side, then map control, bases, and battles on the other. The trade-off is that both halves can feel a little burdened by having to share attention, so neither side is as deep as a specialist version of the genre would be. In practice it is a game of switching headspace, moving from personal hero work to army management and back again. It sits between classic RTS and story-driven fantasy RPG, which gives it more range than a pure skirmish game. SpellForce 3 Reforced is for players who want one campaign to do several jobs at once, and it works best when that busy mix is exactly what they want.
