Space Trader: Merchant Marine

Space Trader: Merchant Marine is a trading-and-combat space game that sits closer to a small mercenary sim than to a pure shooter. By our assessment, its appeal comes from swapping jobs between hauling cargo, taking contracts, and surviving fights rather than from any single flashy system. The upside is that the structure gives the player a clear route through the world: trade, upgrade, fight, repeat. The downside is that this kind of loop can feel repetitive once the core route is understood, because the game leans on routine and route management. In practice it is the sort of game where menus, cargo, and ship choices matter as much as moment-to-moment action. It is less about spectacle than about being a trader who sometimes has to shoot his way out. That places it in a niche between space trading games and lighter action games, and the fit is best for players who like that blend rather than either side alone.
