Sonny

Sonny is a turn-based RPG that people still remember for its readable combat and the mood of a bleak, deliberately restrained world. By our assessment, its best quality is the way it makes each fight feel like a puzzle of timing, skills, and positioning rather than a blur of numbers. The game’s tone is serious without being fussy, and that gives it a clean identity inside a crowded genre. Its limits are the usual ones for smaller role-playing games: once the systems are understood, the loop is less about surprise and more about efficient execution. In practice it asks for attention to menus and build choices, but not the kind of grinding that drowns the pace. Compared with bigger RPGs, Sonny is leaner and more focused, with less spectacle and more control. It suits players who like tactical turns and a darker mood, while anyone wanting a huge world or constant novelty will find it narrow. The battles and choices do the talking, and that is enough here.
