Sokodice

Sokodice takes the familiar box-pushing puzzle and gives it a tabletop feel through dice, which is the whole reason to look at it. Its good idea is that every move is about reading the board, planning around the random-looking values on the dice, and finding a clean route rather than rushing. By our assessment, that makes it a neat fit for players who like compact logic puzzles with a little friction. The downside is also built in: once a puzzle game is that stripped down, there is not much room for dramatic variety, and the appeal depends on how well the individual stages are built. In practice it asks for patience, a careful eye, and a willingness to retry a layout until the route works. Compared with traditional Sokoban, it has the same strict spatial thinking but a more playful surface. Sokodice rewards people who enjoy quiet problem-solving; anyone wanting a bigger spectacle or a looser pace will not find that here. The box is small, and the puzzle is the point.
