Snapshot

Snapshot is all about photographing creatures, then using those photos to alter the world, so it appeals to players who like small, clever puzzle ideas more than sprawling systems. By our assessment, its best trick is the camera mechanic, because taking a picture does not just record the thing on screen; it becomes the way forward. The limitation is equally clear: once the central trick has clicked, the experience is brief and relies on that one idea carrying a lot of weight. In practice it feels like a neat indie puzzle game that keeps asking the player to look at the same spaces differently. Compared with larger puzzle adventures, it is simpler, shorter, and much more focused on one mechanic than on breadth. Snapshot is a good pick for someone wanting a compact brain-teaser with a clear hook, and a poor fit for anyone expecting a long campaign or many systems. It works because the photo tool changes how each room is read.
