Silica is a hard mix of shooter and strategy, where the appeal comes from moving between infantry combat, vehicle work, and top-down command. By our assessment, it is strongest when those layers line up and the battlefield feels busy without turning into noise. The catch is that the learning curve is real, because it asks a lot of attention and the different roles do not always balance cleanly. In practice that makes it feel less like a casual shooter and more like a game that keeps asking you to decide what job you are doing. It sits closer to niche PC strategy-shooter hybrids than to a straight action game, and that narrower target is part of the point. Silica rewards patience and a taste for systems first, reflexes second.
