Ship of Fools

Ship of Fools takes the co-op roguelite formula and turns it into a small, hectic rowboat defense game, where players keep loading cannons, patching damage, and surviving waves of sea monsters together. By our assessment, the fun comes from the constant scramble and the way each run forces teamwork under pressure. The downside is also built into that structure: like many roguelites, it leans on repetition, and the loop can feel thin if the group does not enjoy retrying and adapting. In practice it is loud, crowded, and very reactive, with each run asking for quick communication more than long planning. It sits closer to modern co-op roguelites than to traditional naval games, and that makes it more about shared chaos than about simulation. The boat is tiny on purpose, and the whole game rides on that cramped, scrappy feeling.
