Ship Simulator Extremes is for the slow, exact business of handling big vessels, from steering and docking to managing the routines that keep a ship moving. By our assessment, its strength is the specificity: it tries to model the feel of ship operation rather than turn sailing into arcade spectacle. That also limits it, because simulation fans will tolerate a lot of patience, while everyone else may find the pace too deliberate and the systems too technical. In play it is all about checking controls, lining up approaches, and keeping a large machine obedient at sea. It sits in the serious end of the simulator shelf, not the toy end, and the name says that plainly enough.
