Shieldwall

Shieldwall is a battle game about pushing groups of soldiers around the map, more like a tactical toy than a deep war simulator. By our assessment, its main attraction is the readable, compact style of fighting: formations matter, positioning matters, and the whole thing moves at a pace that stays easy to follow. The limit is that this kind of design can feel thin if someone wants long campaigns or lots of mechanical layers. In practice it is the sort of game where the fun comes from managing crowds and watching a small plan hold together under pressure. Compared with larger strategy games, it is lighter and more direct, with less room for grand systems. Shieldwall works as a straightforward skirmish game, and it does not try to be a sprawling strategy epic.
