Sheltered is a survival management game about keeping a small family alive in a bunker after the world has gone bad. By our assessment, it is at its best when it makes you ration food, water, and shelter space while deciding what to craft next. The downside is that this sort of game can feel harsh and repetitive, because the same shortages keep coming back and the bunker never stops needing attention. In practice it is a mix of menus, planning, and sudden crises, with more emphasis on damage control than on comfort. Compared with bigger survival games, it is narrower and more domestic, which is exactly its point. It is for players who like pressure, juggling scarce supplies, and making bad choices into workable ones; it is not for people who want a relaxing build-and-explore loop. The bunker is the whole game, and every system pushes back on you.
