Shadow Complex Remastered

Shadow Complex Remastered is a side-scrolling action platformer built around movement, shooting, and backtracking through a big connected map. By our assessment, it does that job well because the pace stays brisk, the controls are sharp, and the game keeps giving you new traversal tools and combat toys before the formula goes stale. The trade-off is that it is very much a metroidvania, so wandering, revisiting rooms, and opening locked paths are part of the package rather than a side activity. In practice that means a lot of running, jumping, wall-clinging, and clearing rooms that reward memory as much as aim. It sits comfortably among older-style exploration games rather than open-ended action adventures. The remaster is for people who like that structure and do not mind some old-school repetition; anyone who wants a straight line from start to finish will feel the loops more than the payoffs.
