Serious Sam VR: The First Encounter turns the old Serious Sam run-and-gun formula into a room-scale shooter for VR, so the whole point is to face waves of enemies by physically tracking, aiming, and turning instead of lounging behind a controller. By our assessment, it is at its best when you want that arcade pressure without the usual flat-screen distance; the sheer number of enemies and the open spaces suit VR surprisingly well. The trade-off is obvious: in-headset monster mowing asks for stamina, room space, and tolerance for motion-heavy play, and that can wear people out fast. In practice it feels blunt and physical, with fast target switching, constant scanning, and less room for careful cover play than a modern tactical shooter. It sits closer to a pure shooter toy than a story-driven VR adventure, and the people most likely to enjoy it are those who want old-school action translated into head-tracked chaos.
