Secret World Legends

Secret World Legends still stands out because it tries to turn modern MMO play into an investigation-heavy secret-society fantasy, with quests built around clues, urban horror themes, and action combat instead of the usual fantasy grind. By our assessment, the idea is distinctive, and the setting gives it a mood that most online games never touch. The downside is that the game inherits the usual MMO problem of repetition, and some of its puzzle-style missions can feel slower or more awkward than the combat. In practice it mixes questing, gear progression, ability decks, and occasional logic puzzles, so the pace changes a lot from zone to zone. Compared with standard theme-park MMOs, Secret World Legends is stranger and more atmospheric, but also less smooth in how it teaches and holds a player. It suits people who want conspiracy stories and a different tone from elves-and-dragons online games, and the roughest edges show up when the mysteries outstay their welcome.
