Scorchlands

Scorchlands is a colony-building game for people who like planning maps, production chains, and a bit of hostile terrain pressure. By our assessment, its best trick is the way it turns resource gathering into territorial sprawl, so expansion feels like the whole puzzle rather than a side task. That also means it can feel busy in the usual builder way: lots of menus, lots of placement decisions, and not much hand-holding once the systems start stacking up. In practice it looks like a strategy game that wants patient mouse work and steady juggling, not quick reflexes. Compared with softer city builders, it seems more about squeezing usefulness out of awkward land than making something pretty and relaxed. The people who tend to enjoy it are the ones who like optimizing a map step by step; anyone wanting a simple, low-friction build loop will likely bounce off. The name fits the feel: it is about making rough ground serve your plan, and the late game should be expected to demand attention to several systems at once.
